 1. What is Voice Services?

U.S. Cellular Voice Services are a new family of products, which includes Voice Activated Dialing and Voice Information Services. These services provide voice access to web-based information. Research shows that more than 50% of airtime minutes are in the car. Since safety is a key factor, this service will allow safer access to information and dialing. This service can be used with any handset and is available on selected rate plans only.


 2. What is Voice Activated Dialing?

Voice activated dialing allows you to place calls easily and safely just by saying a name from pre-established Address Book or any phone number. For example you can say

  • "Call John Smith"
  • "Call John Smith on his cell"
  • "Call 555-209-1379"

 3. What is Voice Information Services?

Voice Information Services gives you access to personalized voice information such as stock quotes, sports, weather, driving directions, horoscopes, lottery results, movie and TV listings and more through your wireless phone.


 4. How do I call special numbers, such as emergency help and operator assistance?
  • For emergency assistance, dial 911 (where available). Press SEND. (Roaming charges may apply if outside your home service area.)
  • For operator assistance, dial 0 and press SEND.
  • For U.S. Cellular customer service, dial *611 if you are in your home service area. Otherwise, you can reach them toll-free at 1-888-944-9400.
  • For directory assistance with call completion, call 411. For long-distance directory assistance, dial 1 + area code + 555-1212 (charges apply).
  • For U.S. Cellular's 24-hour Roamer Support department, call 1-888-872-7462.

 5. How much does U.S. Cellular Voice Services cost?

Voice Services costs $4.95 plus airtime used. This includes Voice Activated Dialer and Voice Information Services.


 6. What kind of information can I access with Voice Information Services?

Weather
Access weather information for 17,500 U.S. cities and major cities worldwide, including weather reports and 3-day extended forecasts for many U.S. and international cities. The weather reports can give you the current temperature, wind speed and direction, humidity, current conditions, and the forecast for the rest of the day. You can say "extended forecast" to hear the weather for the following three days. When you ask for weather you will automatically receive the current weather report for your home area. To get a different weather report, say the name of the city and state you want, or for a city outside the U.S., say the city and country.


Stock Quotes
Listen to twenty-minute delayed stock quotes and major indices reports, including quotes for stocks on the NYSE, NASDAQ, and AMEX-listed securities . Say "long Quotes" and you'll hear price, change, volume, day's low, and day's high. Say "short quotes" and you'll hear price and change.


Flight Information
Provides you up to the minute arrival and departure information for the following airlines:

If you say, "I don't know it" for either the airline or flight number, Flight Information will still provide you up to the minute arrival or departure information by asking for approximate times and cities of origin and destination.


Driving Directions
Nationwide point-to-point driving directions to more than 100 million street addresses. Gives you turn-by-turn driving directions. You specify the starting and destination points. Directions are read out to you step by step. You can say, "Pause," at any time to pause the service for up to two minutes.


News
Audio news feeds for national, international, business, finance, technology, sports, health and entertainment. Gives you updated daily news. The news categories are Nations News, World News, Business, Finance, Technology, Sports, Health, and Entertainment.


Sports
gives you daily scores, league reports, schedules, injury reports and point spreads. Here are the sports that are covered: NFL, NBA, Major league Baseball, NHL, College football, College Basketball, College Hockey, Women's College Basketball, Tennis, Golf, Soccer, Boxing, and Auto Racing.


TV Dramas
Daily or weekly recap of TVs most popular TV dramas. Gives you a recap of the last episode of your favorite TV drama or Soap Opera. When you are using TV Dramas you can check a list of available programs.


Horoscopes
Gives you daily updated horoscopes. Just say the zodiac sign you want or your birthday.


Lottery Results
Provides winning lottery numbers for state lotteries nationwide.


Movies
Provides showtimes for current movies playing at over 3000 theaters nationwide.


 7. What does it mean to personalize Information Services with Express Reports?

Express Reports is the fastest and easiest way to have your favorite information read to you automatically. Create a personalized report through your wireless phone or Web (in most cases). For example:

  • Create a portfolio of up to 12 securities and have them automatically read to you when you say "Stock Quotes."
  • Save your favorite cities and have their weather reports automatically read to you when you say, "Weather."
  • Save your sports favorites and have up to the minute scores or news reports automatically read to you when you say, "Sports."
  • Save your favorite theater listings and hear show times at those locations when you say, "Movies."

 8. What is the Voice Dialer Address Book?

Voice Dialer Address Book is essential to fully utilize the Voice Activated Dialer. You can store up to 2000 listings with five phone numbers per listing, making it easy to access home, work, cell, pager or other numbers for all your friends, family and co-workers. Once you've stored a name and number in your address book, you can access it by saying the person's name. Names can be entered via the Web or your wireless phone and are listed alphabetically.


 9. Can I change the information in my Address Book and Information Services?

Yes. You can easily make changes via your wireless phone or the Web for your Address Book as well as Information Services.


 10. Can I synchronize the information in my Address Book with Microsoft Outlook and Palm Desktop?

Yes. The Voice Activated Dialer Address Book syncs with Microsoft Outlook and Palm Desktop, allowing you to update all of your contacts with a click of a button.


 11. Are there any restrictions to using Voice Services?
  • Voice Activated Dialer CANNOT place calls to 911, 411, 611, 711, 900 numbers and international calls
  • Voice Services is available on specified service plans. To check if your service plan qualifies, call a U.S. Cellular Customer Care representative at 1-888-944-9400.
  • Airtime charges apply
  • Available in your home rate area within the U.S. Cellular operating markets only
  • Not available to TalkTracker customers
